Reverend Carlos Alejandro

The Rev. Carlos Alejandro, Greenwich Hospital’s Clinical Pastoral Education Educator, is fully certified by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, (ACPE). Carlos brings extensive experience in pastoral care and in clinical pastoral supervision in both traditional as well as in challenging venues. Currently he is the CPE Educator for Calvary Hospital. The founding director of North General Hospital’s Department of Pastoral Care & Education, Carlos also created and led Harlem’s Outreach Program for Emergencies, (The HOPE Team). The HOPE team was a faith-based Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team based in Harlem. A Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains, Carlos served as a corrections chaplain at Riker’s Island Central Punitive Segregation Unit and at the Manhattan Detention Center, known as “The Tombs”.  A former journalist, Carlos received an MS degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a Master of Divinity degree from NY Theological Seminary. He is ordained by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and lectures on Afro-Caribbean Spirituality and Pastoral Care, Spirituality and Trauma, and on Cultural Issues in End-of-Life Care.
