Infusion Center Offers Treatment Close to Home

Leslie Widman’s 25-year journey to manage multiple sclerosis has become much easier with the opening of Long Ridge Medical Center in Stamford.

At Long Ridge, the Fairfield resident receives monthly intravenous medication at the Infusion Center, undergoes imaging tests when needed, and meets with her team of physicians, including a neurologist and physiatrist. The facility also offers blood draw services, as well as physical and occupational therapy.

In the past, Widman traveled to North Haven for care. She appreciates having the Stamford facility closer to home.

“Having everything in one familiar setting with all my doctors available to one another is very reassuring as well as convenient,” said Widman. “Plus the nurses at the Infusion Center are absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable. I feel comfortable and safe under their care.”

“We want people who live in the region to know we’re here. Our certified infusion nurses are skilled at helping patients with virtually any type of infusion need,” said Helen Brugger, RN, nurse manager of the Infusion Center.

The center cares for patients with multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, psoriasis, infections, anemia and other diseases.
