Greenwich Hospital prioritizes safety as services reopen
All visitors and patients arriving at Greenwich Hospital have their temperature checked at the main entrance as part of the screening process.
Greenwich Hospital and its offsite locations are completely open, with the resumption of all services that were temporarily suspended or deferred at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We have emerged from the public health crisis stronger and more prepared than ever before," said Diane Kelly, DNP, the hospital’s new president. "It’s important to seek care when needed because any delay can lead to complications and advanced stages of disease."
Here are some of the ways Greenwich Hospital is ensuring the safety of its patients.
All patients and visitors entering our main entrance and off site locations are screened upon arrival and must wear masks. We ask all patients and visitors about symptoms and check their temperature at the door. Our employees are required to take their temperature and check for symptoms twice each day. Employees who have symptoms of COVID-19 cannot report to work.
Patients admitted to the hospital as well as Emergency Department patients are tested for COVID-19. Every patient scheduled for surgery or a procedure requiring general anesthesia is tested for COVID-19 prior to coming to the hospital.
Designated Patient Care Areas
Patients who don’t have COVID-19 are treated on separate units by different care teams while in the hospital. Patients with COVID-19 and those awaiting test results are cared for on designated units.
An advanced cleaning and disinfection process is used on all medical equipment, highly touched surfaces and frequently trafficked areas. All cleaning exceeds recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Patient rooms are cleaned daily and deep cleaned after a patient is discharged. Hand-sanitizing stations are available throughout the hospital. Operating rooms and procedural areas meet the most stringent guidelines for cleanliness and safety.
The number of patients and staff permitted in elevators has been reduced. The hospital eliminated lines at screening areas, appointment check-ins and cafeterias with social distancing signage. Check-in areas have Plexiglas barriers.
Personal Protective Equipment
The hospital has ample personal protective equipment to keep patients and caregivers safe, including masks, face shields, gloves, gowns and eye coverings.
Patients also have the option of phone and video visits with their physicians. For more details, visit greenwichhospital.org and click "Online Tools".
