Greenwich Hospital has received Comprehensive Program accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The program, a joint effort of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), establishes national standards in patient safety and quality for bariatric surgery programs.
Accreditation is awarded following a rigorous evaluation process that documents excellence in safe surgical care and long-term quality outcomes. To achieve accreditation, a bariatric surgical program must demonstrate it can maintain certain physical and human resources, and standards of practice. Accredited programs report their outcomes to the MBSAQIP database.
This accreditation comes from the largest organization of bariatric surgeons in the world which promotes uniform standard benchmarks as well as supports continuous quality improvement.
