Open enrollment begins Oct. 31

Employees eligible to enroll themselves and their eligible dependents in medical, dental, vision or other 2023 benefits are reminded that open enrollment will be Monday, Oct. 31, through 5 pm, Friday, Nov. 11.

“Each year, we use your feedback to look carefully at our benefits offerings and ensure they support your health and well-being, meet the evolving needs of you and your covered dependents, and are affordable and comprehensive,” said Melissa B. Turner, chief human resources officer, Yale New Haven Health. “If you were unable to join the webinar on this year’s benefits program, please visit the HRConnect intranet site to access the recording and a special issue of HR News to Use. Our strong 2023 benefits program reflects YNHHS’ commitment to invest in our staff, balanced with the health system’s financial pressures.”

To ensure you are enrolled in the benefits you want for 2023, you must take action during open enrollment:

  • If you are a first-time enrollee
  • To change benefits you currently have
  • To elect a Flexible Spending Account (health care and/or dependent care). For a healthcare FSA, IRS rules allow you to carry over $610 from 2022 to use throughout 2023, and the contribution limit has increased to $3,050. There are no changes to the dependent care FSA; the contribution limit remains $5,000.
  • To enroll in certain voluntary benefits (Group Critical Illness, Legal Plan or the Hospital Indemnity Plan). For information, call 866-874-2837 or visit YNHHSVoluntaryBenefits.com.
  • To take advantage of a special offer from The Hartford to enroll in or increase your supplemental life insurance coverage without completing a health questionnaire or providing proof of good health. For information, visit Benefits Connection or HRConnect portals.

If you do not take action during open enrollment:

  • You and any eligible dependents will automatically be enrolled in the same medical, dental and vision plans you have in 2022, at 2023 premium rates. For 2023, our medical plan will be administered by Cigna, as previously announced.
  • If you waived plan coverage in 2022, your coverage would remain waived in 2023.
  • You will not be able to change your benefits coverage in 2023 unless you have a qualifying life event.
  • You will not be enrolled in an FSA.
