PEACE recognition announced

These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.

Nancy Edgington, clinical social worker, and Emily Flynn, RN, were honored for going above and beyond for a long-term patient on the Transplantation and Liver Unit (WP 9). The patient had heard that his grandmother was at the Saint Raphael Campus with a terminal condition and he wanted to see her one last time. Edgington and Flynn worked closely with WP 9 and other departments to transport the patient to the SRC so he could say goodbye.

Nella Tulloch, patient care associate, Nursing Resource Operations Center, was honored for going above and beyond for a patient with severe dementia on the C side of the York Street Campus Emergency Department, where admitted patients receive care until an inpatient bed opens. Tulloch noticed that the patient, who was from another country, was becoming confused and agitated by the ED activity level. Tulloch is from the same country, and sat and talked with the patient in her native language. She provided additional, culturally sensitive care in the form of prayer and specific beverages, which made the patient feel safe and secure and greatly aided in her treatment.

All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for the monthly PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
