YNHHS’ Advanced Practice Executive Council has launched a new Transition to Practice (TTP) program for recently hired APPs that addresses the nuances of different practice settings across the health system, builds support networks and enhances practitioners’ clinical and non-clinical skills.
“New APPs step into a dynamic role that requires more than the general new employee orientation,” said Will Cushing, PA-C, executive director, Hospitalist Services. "We developed in-person training for our staff, by our staff that is unique to our health system.”
To start, TTP is open to all experienced APRNs and PAs new to YNHHS. The onboarding program will extend to new APPs, including current nurses who earn APP licensure, as they join YNHHS.
In-person instruction at YNHHS’ Institute for Excellence will encourage collaboration, skill-building and knowledge sharing. Offered quarterly, the three-hour sessions will include:
