Connecticut Sun and Yale New Haven Health Renew Medical Partnership

Thursday, May 13, 2021

UNCASVILLE, CT. (May 13, 2021) – Today the Connecticut Sun announced that the team has renewed its partnership with Yale New Haven Health, Connecticut’s most prominent Health System, as the team’s Official Health Partner. The pair has agreed to a three-year extension on the original agreement established in April of 2019.

A leading element in the partnership includes the Yale New Haven Health logo featured in the marquee position across the belly of the official game-day uniforms of the Sun. The jerseys are featured on national and local television broadcasts, as well as all Connecticut Sun social media platforms. This year the team will introduce three new uniform renditions courtesy of Nike. The collection will include the Heroine, Explorer and Rebel editions. Each of which integrate the history and symbolism of the Mohegan Tribe.

“As a professional sports team, our number one priority is both the physical and mental well-being of our players and staff,” said Connecticut Sun Team President, Jennifer Rizzotti. “We are so fortunate to have as our partner the world class physicians and services of Yale New Haven Health.

Yale New Haven Health’s continued commitment to the Connecticut Sun allows us to join forces to ensure all members of our collective communities have access to the very best care. Additionally, with YNHH’s support we are able to recognize valued community members, essential workers while raising money for charities near and dear to our heart.”

Together, Yale New Haven Health and the Connecticut Sun will work hand in hand throughout the year on a variety of initiatives to support the community. One main focus of collaboration has been Breast Health Awareness, a cause for which the two organizations have already raised upwards of twenty thousand dollars in the first two years of the partnership. In addition to community efforts on the court and off, the partnership provides all-inclusive medical care for the Sun players.

“We are very proud continue as the Official Health Partner of the Connecticut Sun,” said Marna P. Borgstrom, CEO, Yale New Haven Health. “Our goal as a health system is to help keep our community strong and healthy and we are excited to support those same goals with this world-class sports franchise.”

Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS), the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut, is recognized for advanced clinical care, quality, service, cost effectiveness and commitment to improving the health status of the communities it serves.
