Greenwich, CT (Feb. 7, 2018) – Alyssa Gillego, MD, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon who specializes in breast cancer treatment, has joined the Breast Center at Greenwich Hospital.

“Dr. Gillego is the perfect combination of being well-trained, experienced and compassionate. As a resident of Greenwich, she looks forward to participating in hospital and community events,” said Barbara Ward, MD, medical director of the Breast Center. “We are fortunate to have her on board.”

Dr. Gillego performs breast biopsies, lumpectomies, mastectomies, sentinel lymph node biopsies, plus nipple-sparing mastectomy for select cancer patients and women undergoing prophylactic surgery due to a BRCA gene mutation. She also sees patients with benign breast conditions or a family history of breast cancer.

Prior to joining Greenwich Hospital, Dr. Gillego practiced at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel in New York and was an associate professor of surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her surgical training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.

The Breast Center at Greenwich Hospital offers comprehensive screening, diagnosis and treatment of benign breast conditions and breast cancer.
