women's choice award - bariatric surgeryGreenwich Hospital has been named as one of America's Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery by the Women's Choice Award.

"We are committed to providing individuals struggling with obesity a safe and evidence-based surgical alternative to improve their health and quality of life. Our goal is to provide the highest standard for patient safety and quality care in bariatric surgery," said Ashutosh Kaul, MD, medical director of Greenwich Hospital's bariatric surgery program

"This award is a positive reflection of the hard work of the entire team," he added. "I especially want to thank the program coordinator, physician assistants and wonderful nursing team for taking such good care of our patients."  Greenwich Hospital recently marked its 200th bariatric procedure since 2014. The hospital offers support, education and nutritional guidance before, during and after bariatric surgery to help patients succeed. Research shows bariatric surgery can significantly reduce the risk of dying from cancer, diabetes and heart disease among those who are obese.

The Women's Choice Award is the only award recognizing excellence in bariatric surgery based on robust criteria that considers patient satisfaction and clinical excellence.

Greenwich Hospital received the award by meeting the following criteria: Accreditation by the American College of Surgeons' Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program; high patient safety ranking by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; and high recommendation scores based on federal patient surveys.
