“The Greenwich Hospital Stroke Center is dedicated to providing patients with immediate access to the highest standards of care and treatment protocols that save lives and minimize long-term disability. This award recognizes our efforts to ensure patients receive care based on nationally recognized clinical guidelines backed by the latest scientific evidence,” said Norman G. Roth, Greenwich Hospital president.

Available 24 hours a day, the Greenwich Hospital Stroke Center offers a comprehensive program that provides rapid and advanced neurological care to stroke patients and their families. The specialized team includes neurologists, emergency medicine physicians, radiologists, nurses, clinical pharmacists, emergency medical technicians, rehabilitation therapists, speech pathologists and others.

Greenwich Hospital received the award for reaching targets on various stroke metrics for 24 consecutive months.

Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and a leading cause of adult disability, according to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. On average, someone suffers a stroke every 40 seconds and someone dies of a stroke every four minutes.
