Greenwich Hospital receives 2016 Women’s Choice Award for Cancer Care

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

Greenwich, CT – For the third consecutive year, Greenwich Hospital has received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s best hospitals for cancer care.

“Greenwich Hospital is committed to providing the highest level of cancer care and support services with compassion and dignity to patients and their loved ones,” said Maria Marini, RN, program director for oncology services. “We focus on the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients as they move from diagnosis and treatment to recovery and survivorship.”

As part of Yale New Haven Health System’s Smilow Cancer Hospital network, Greenwich Hospital offers a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art cancer care services, including three-dimensional mammography; advanced medical, surgical and radiation therapy options; ongoing clinical trials; patient and family support groups; and survivorship programs. Patients can access these outpatient and inpatient services at various locations, including the main hospital, the Breast Center and the Bendheim Cancer Center.

The list of 366 Women’s Choice Award winners represents hospitals that have been accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer for meeting the highest standards in cancer care. Scores were based on patient recommendation ratings from surveys conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Additional criteria looked at whether a hospital offered on-site chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hospice and cancer research activities.

In addition to the award for Cancer Care, Greenwich Hospital has received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award for Obstetrics and for Patient Safety.
