Long-time oncology nurse wins DAISY Award

Elizabeth Barbarita, RN, recently won the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for providing exceptional and compassionate care to patients and families. With 27 years of experience, Barbarita has earned the admiration of colleagues and patients alike for her professionalism, expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence.

One patient with breast cancer who was hospitalized for more than a month described Barbarita as “a master educator in nursing” whose “years of experience and service are unmatched.” The patient added, “Liz can analyze, take apart and use her common sense to practice medicine. She is a GH diamond.”

Beyond her clinical expertise, Barbarita is known for her warmth and ability to connect deeply with patients and families, offering comfort and reassurance during difficult times. She is also a valued mentor and team player, inspiring her colleagues with her leadership and dedication.
