Greenwich Hospital

Fall-risk screening Oct. 15

Danger: Fall Hazard

In the U.S., an older adult falls every second. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that one in four older adults falls each year, and more than 41,000 lives are lost annually from fall-related injuries.

To help people be better prepared, the Greenwich Hospital Department of Physical Medicine is hosting a free fall-risk screening for the community Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1 - 4 pm in the Noble Conference Room.

Physical Medicine staff will educate community members on how to reduce fall risk, citing a CDC program called STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths & Injuries).

“We’re thrilled to bring this vital screening to the community at no cost,” said Tom Millucci, DPT, director, Physical Medicine, Greenwich Hospital. “We are positioned in an area that has a high population of people at risk of being seriously injured by a fall, so I’m happy we’re able to provide this service and potentially save lives.”
