With new unit, hospital marks next phase of Smilow Cancer Hospital expansion

Greenwich Hospital leaders, physicians and staff
Greenwich Hospital leaders, physicians and staff celebrated the opening of a new oncology suite with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Greenwich Hospital recently opened a 10,500-square-foot inpatient oncology suite as part of the broader Smilow Cancer Hospital at Greenwich Hospital project.

The 14-bed, all-private oncology unit is built to support the future of oncology, integrating advanced clinical capabilities with an environment designed around the patient and family experience.

The new suite offers:

  • Single-bed rooms, which enhance infection prevention, privacy and patient recovery
  • Integrated technology platforms supporting cutting-edge therapies and evolving treatment protocols
  • Dedicated space to support families, an active component of healing
  • Optimized layouts enabling deeper, more personalized patient-provider engagement

“This is not just a new unit, it’s a deliberate step forward in how cancer care is delivered in this region,” said Bob Blenderman, PA, Greenwich Hospital president. “Patients today have choices, and they are seeking environments that combine clinical sophistication with humanity. This suite reflects our commitment to both, while advancing our ability to bring the latest therapies and multidisciplinary expertise closer to home.”
