PEACE recognition announced

heart hands

Bridgeport Hospital

Greg Waterfield

Greg Waterfield, lead tech, CT Scan, earned the April Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence (PEACE). It’s his second PEACE in six months. Waterfield was driving to work when he noticed a house fire on Mill Hill Avenue. Without hesitation, he pulled over and began banging on the front door to alert the people inside. Thanks to Waterfield’s quick thinking and action, everyone got out safely. Waterfield called 911 and stayed until emergency services were en route, then continued to work as if it were just another day. “This kind of selfless act speaks volumes about Greg’s character,” Jacqueline Laird, RN, nurse manager, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), wrote in her nomination. “His dedication to the well-being of others, even outside the walls of the hospital, is a true example of what it means to care deeply and act with purpose.”

Greenwich Hospital

Teresa Delpeschio, office manager, Emergency Department, received the Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence (PEACE) for helping to boost patient satisfaction. A work group at the hospital formed to raise patient experience scores introduced the idea of pet therapy and healing touch for ED patients. Delpeschio took the lead on the initiative, working with Volunteer Services and ED staff and rounding daily with therapy dogs and healing touch volunteers to ensure appropriate patient visits. She also supported the volunteers, ensuring they felt comfortable and appreciated – even bringing dog treats for the therapy dogs.
