Our stories

Sympathy sees and says, “I’m sorry.” Compassion sees and says, “I’ll help.”

This is the primary reason why hundreds of volunteers give their gift of time to our Auxiliary, our Volunteer Services Department and to Greenwich Hospital. The joy of giving back to their community, and to the hospital that cares for their family and friends.

“You can’t walk to down the hallway without passing a volunteer,” says Stacey Green, director of Volunteer Services. “But our team is more than just volunteers in uniforms – they are the heart and soul of Greenwich Hospital.”

Ceceila and Marlis

Ceceila Leary is new to our gift shop, but has jumped in with both feet! She loves her time spent in the shop and enjoys the satisfaction of helping others. She lives in Greenwich and enjoys giving back to the hospital where her grandchildren were born.

Marlis Reitenbach has been a volunteer for 20 years. The Cos Cob resident loves helping others, enjoys meeting new friends and finds comfort in the “family atmosphere” that Greenwich Hospital provides to our community.

Teal Lindsay

Teal Lindsay, a resident of Norwalk, CT began volunteering at Greenwich Hospital because her sister, Suzanne, has had such a positive experience. Eleven years later and the sister team has logged over 5,500 combined hours of service during their tenure.

Teal spends most of her time transporting our patients to and from testing procedures, but she is always willing to lend a hand with those unexpected special requests. The service excellence and dedication that Teal, and hundreds of others, provide to Greenwich Hospital is what makes our volunteers so valuable.
