Greenwich residents receive President’s Call to Service Award

Two longtime Greenwich Hospital volunteers have received the prestigious President’s Call to Service Award in recognition of completing 4,000 hours or more of service during their lifetime.

Greenwich residents Sandra Berlingo and John Squillace received a certificate, pin and letter from President Barack Obama for their service as volunteers at Greenwich Hospital.

Berlingo has greeted thousands of Greenwich Hospital visitors since 1994 from her post at the information desk in the main lobby. She has logged 4,064 volunteer hours.

Squillace, who volunteers in the Physical Medicine Department, has provided 4,086 hours of service since 2000.

“Our volunteers play a large role in making the Greenwich Hospital experience outstanding,” said Norman G. Roth, the hospital’s president. “The amount of service they provide to our patients each and every day is truly remarkable.”

The volunteers were honored during Greenwich Hospital’s 66th annual meeting.
