Thursday, March 1, 2018

Greenwich, CT (March 1, 2018) – After an extensive national search, Noël Appel, a fundraiser with The New School in New York City, has been named vice president of the Greenwich Hospital Foundation and its chief development officer. Her appointment is effective March 19.

“Noël’s more than 20 years of experience will be an asset to the Greenwich Hospital Foundation, which works to secure the financial resources our hospital needs to provide advanced and safe medical care to Connecticut and New York residents,” said Norman G. Roth, president and chief executive officer of Greenwich Hospital. “We’re fortunate to have a strong philanthropic community that supports our mission of caring.”

Before joining Greenwich Hospital, Appel was vice president, Development and Alumni Relations at The New School in New York City, overseeing major gift fund raising for four of the university’s schools (Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College, the New School for Social Research and College of Performing Arts).

At The New School, Appel launched school-based campaigns for the first time in the university’s history with collective fundraising goals of $100 million. She oversees the Parsons Benefit, a partnership between Parsons School of Design and the College of Performing Arts, which welcomes over 800 global leaders from the design, performance and media communities, to raise student scholarship funds. She also manages the Annual Fund and Institutional Giving. During her tenure, parent and international fundraising included engaged communities in the UK, Asia, and South America as well as a robust West Coast presence.

Prior to The New School, Appel was associate dean of Development at the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University in Boston, and assistant vice president of Development at Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. At Northeastern, she provided oversight of the fundraising team serving Applied Psychology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Science, the School of Nursing, and the School of Pharmacy as part of the university’s Empower Campaign. At Fairfield, her responsibilities included major gift fundraising, management of school-based advisory boards as well as oversight of the private foundation fundraising portfolio for the university.

A longtime Fairfield resident, Appel holds a BA in English and an MA in Communications from Fairfield University. She has been published in numerous journals, including the Journal of Professional Nursing, and is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Honor Society.
