What to Bring and What Not to Bring

It is important to bring your insurance card and, where necessary, your managed care written referral and/or prior authorization. Along with your insurance documents, bring papers that your doctor may have given you, and any results from preoperative tests.

If you are coming for ambulatory (same-day) surgery, a medical procedure, or for a longer stay, it is advisable to:

  • Wear loose fitting clothes.
  • Bring your eye-glasses, hearing aid, or other assistive device if it will contribute to your feeling of well-being. Please remove your contact lenses if you wear them.
  • Bring toiletries if you will be staying overnight.
  • Take a pre-operative pediatric tour with your child if he or she is scheduled for surgery.

We will provide slippers and a robe for your convenience. If your child is the patient, please bring a favorite doll or toy.

What Not to Bring

Valuables

Although Greenwich Hospital maintains a safe and secure environment, we strongly recommend that you send your valuables home with a family member or friend. If you are unable to do this, valuables may be placed in our safe. For assistance, please call the Admitting Office at 203-863-3321.

Electrical Appliances

Electrical safety is a prime concern for the entire hospital. If you need to bring an electrical appliance, it must be inspected by our Biomedical Engineering Department before use. Patient and Guest Relations staff will assist you. Battery-powered appliances such as portable iPods and cell phones are permitted. For more information, call 203-863-4746.
