The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Greenwich Hospital provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary outpatient care to support individuals across the lifespan, from adolescence through older adulthood. Through our affiliation with clinicians and renowned expertise of clinical faculty from the Yale School of Medicine, patients benefit from evidence-based care delivered by experienced clinicians addressing a wide range of mental and behavioral health concerns. Our programs specialize in treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar and mood disorders, psychotic disorders, addiction, and behavioral and nutritional health needs. Clinical teams at Greenwich Hospital are available to support the holistic mental health and wellbeing needs of individuals in lower Fairfield County, offering expert care close to home. Ambulatory Psychiatry and Behavioral Health offer six different programs of treatment for individuals and families.
Treatment at Greenwich Hospital’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Program is grounded in the following principles:
Psychiatry and Behavioral Health referrals are accepted from psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, and inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. Self-referrals are also accepted.
We are participating providers for most insurance carriers. However, it is always recommended that patients check with their health care insurance company on the details of their behavioral health policy coverage.
The Greenwich Hospital Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) cares for patients ages 13-17 with moderate-to-severe depression and anxiety. Patients receive treatment three days per week in a structured therapeutic setting. Our program is focused on providing compassionate support tailored to the developmental changes and evolving needs of adolescents and young adults.
The Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) cares for adults and young adults with depression, anxiety and bipolar disorders. Patients receive treatment three days per week in a structured setting.
Psychologists in the Center for Behavioral Health provide Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) based support to address the psychological, behavioral, and emotional factors that influence physical well being. They work with patients to develop coping strategies, support behavior change, and enhance quality of life in the context of chronic illness, stress, and health related challenges. Registered dietitians offer individualized nutrition counseling for patients to support a variety of goals—from managing health conditions to fostering a more mindful relationship with food.
Interventional Psychiatric Services (IPS) at Greenwich Hospital combines clinical and research advances of the past two decades, offering hope to patients and their families. Services include electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), ketamine and FDA approved esketamine (Spravato ®) treatments. IPS is an emerging subspecialty that uses neuro-technologies to identify and treat brain conditions that contribute to psychiatric disorders.
The Behavioral Health Clinic provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care for young adults, adults, and older adults across the lifespan. Please call 203-863-3468 for new patient inquiries and referrals.
