Endocrinology Inpatient Care

If your doctor recommends an inpatient stay, you can be assured of compassionate, personalized attention by a team of experts across a wide continuum of care.

Greenwich Hospital has achieved Advanced Disease Specific Certification for its inpatient diabetes program. As the first hospital in Connecticut to be awarded this certification, our commitment is to support the management of your diabetes during admission and prepare you for a successful discharge.

Personal Guidance

Whether the reason for being admitted as an inpatient is for observation and testing or for surgery, our staff is available to assist you, answer questions and address any concerns you might have. Patient support services include organizing tests and admission procedures, making discharge arrangements, coordinating home care and rehabilitation services and helping patients understand insurance benefits.

Preparing for discharge

When you are ready to return home, a case manager will work directly with you to review insurance benefits and make a recommendation for discharge based on insurance coverage. Case managers also assist you with discharge arrangements that may include transportation, support services, home care, medication management, and rehabilitation referrals or placements. In addition, a follow-up appointment with the provider who manages your diabetes can be arranged.

Billing and Payment

Part of the discharge planning process includes helping patients fully understand the billing process in order to plan for payment. Case managers work closely with you to clarify insurance benefits eligibility.

Please note: You may receive separate bills from providers other than the hospital. These may include physicians, such as the radiologist and anesthesiologist, and the laboratory.
