Chest Pain Unit

This 4-bed unit is for patients who may have one or two risk factors for heart disease and come to the Emergency Department with chest pain. The Chest Pain Unit is equipped to handle respiratory, cardiac and other medical interventions when necessary.

Patients receive a streamlined cardiac assessment, with blood tests, electrocardiograms and exercise stress echocardiograms among the diagnostics used to rule out cardiac disease. Patients receive television, meals and all the amenities offered to hospitalized patients. Since they are monitored wirelessly, they are free to walk about the unit, away from others needing emergency care.

For the vast majority of Chest Pain Unit patients, stress, anxiety, gastrointestinal problems, musculo-skeletal issues and other factors are the cause of their chest pain. The unit offers patients peace of mind and also reduces unnecessary hospitalization.

Stroke Center

Greenwich Hospital is a nationally recognized Stroke Center. When patients show symptoms of stroke, care begins in the ambulance and a special hospital team is activated.

By the time patients arrive at the Emergency Department, our “stroke alert team” has been mobilized and our neurologist notified.
